A Report From Novel Day

My Creative Writing students met with the 5th-graders they wrote a novel for!

Yesterday's event at Blue Lake was, once again, fantastic. I will write about it at more length later, but my students' hard work paid off. The 5th graders LOVED this book. There was so much energy in the air. The questions they asked, they way they booed when the villain was mentioned, talked enthusiastically about their favorite parts, their favorite characters, and their favorite scenes made it clear that the novel we wrote, the story we told, had really captured most of them. My students did a great job presenting about what went into writing the book and leading small groups of 5th-graders in a writing excerise. They felt like rock stars - so many of the Blue Lake kids wanted us to sign their books! I am a very happy teacher!
